Clinical Psychologist, Charlotte Swift, has been working in the field of psychological assessment and intervention since 2001 and during this time has gained experience of working with both adults and children in a variety of settings and a range of organisations. Charlotte has worked in the NHS and the independent sector and within inpatient and community settings. Charlotte has worked in private practice since 2009.
Charlotte is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is chartered with the British Psychological Society.
Areas of Specialist Experience
Charlotte has specific skills in the psychological assessment and intervention with adults who have difficulties such as depression, anxiety, anger and post-traumatic stress. She has a special interest in working with women who have difficulties related to the effects of childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence and issues arising from this such as relationship difficulties and self-harm.
Charlotte places the therapeutic alliance at the core of any psychological input. Her clinical practice is influenced by evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), systemic therapy and schema-focused therapy in order to best meet the needs of the client. Charlotte has completed accredited training in the use of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for the treatment of trauma.
