Leslie completed her initial, post graduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in 1982. She has since enjoyed extensive post-qualification training with leading CBT researchers and specialist practitioners. Leslie is also an experienced teacher and trainer herself; she has delivered CBT training in further and higher education, as well as privately, since 2000. In the same year, Leslie began her private practice in Bristol, where she continues to work primarily with adults.
Areas of Specialist Experience
Leslie has experience and specialist training in working with depression, work-related stress, post- traumatic stress, loss and a wide range of anxiety problems including generalized anxiety and worry, shyness and social anxiety, health anxiety, panic and OCD. She also offers CBT supervision to trainees and qualified practitioners.
Alongside seeing clients who have self-referred, Leslie works with a number of insurance companies, rehabilitation services, and employee assistance programs.
Leslie is passionate about the potential for Cognitive Behavioural Thearpy (CBT) to help people make meaningful changes. Her approach is pro-active and collaborative, helping clients to acquire practical tools and the ability to move in their chosen direction. In recent years, Leslie has developed a particular interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness-based variant of traditional CBT. ACT provides both skills and a fresh perspective on ways to manage troubling thoughts and feelings.
