
Dr Paula Morris
Background
Dr Paula Morris qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2011 and has since undertaken extensive post qualification training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), including being awarded a PGDip Psychological Therapies Practice (Children and Young People IAPT – CBT) and a PGCert Clinical Supervision of Psychological Therapies Practice – CBT pathway), both from the University of Exeter. Paula is registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and is also a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP).
Areas of Specialist Experience
Paula has specialised in working with children, young people and their families within NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) since 2012. She works with young people and their families/carers, supporting young people with various difficulties including anxiety (including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), separation anxiety,social anxiety, generalised anxiety), phobias, school attendance difficulties, low mood, trauma, self-esteem, body image concerns and loss. Paula has a specialist interest in working with young people experiencing social communication and neurodevelopmental difficulties. Paula has particular skills in working therapeutically with young people who have diagnosed or suspected Autism.
Therapeutic Approach
Paula is committed to engaging in regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and training. Her doctoral and post qualification training and experience means that she can effectively use a range of therapeutic methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), parenting and family/systemic work. Paula is a dedicated and warm-natured therapist and is passionate about building effective therapeutic relationships with the young people and parents/carers in order to work collaboratively towards someone’s individual therapeutic goals.
